DAY 1 SATURDAY WINDHOEK - KALAHARI DESERT
Travel into the Kalahari Desert via Rehoboth. Depart on a scenic sunset drive in open vehicles before dinner. Overnight in Kalahari Desert. [D]
DAY 2 SUNDAY KALAHARI DESERT - FISH RIVER CANYON
Travel through the Kalahari; see the Kokerboom (Quiver tree) forest, then continue via Naute Dam and the northern fringes of the Fish River Canyon. Overnight near Fish River Canyon. [BD]
DAY 3 MONDAY FISH RIVER CANYON - LÃ?DERITZ
Travel to Aus. Possibly see desert horses' on entering Namib Desert. Arrive in Lüderitz around midday and enjoy an afternoon peninsula scenic drive. Overnight in Lüderitz. [BD]
DAY 4 TUESDAY LÃ?DERITZ - MALTAHÃHE
Visit Kolmanskop, a deserted diamond town and museum, and then visit Duwisib Castle before continuing to the Maltahöhe region for overnight. [BD]
DAY 5 WEDNESDAY MALTAHÃHE - NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK
After an early start visit Sossusvlei and undertake a 4x4 scenic drive into the heart of the Namib Desert. Visit Sesriem Canyon and Solitaire en route past Naukluft Mountains. Overnight near Namib Naukluft Park. [BD]
DAY 6 THURSDAY NAMIB NAUKLUFT PARK - SWAKOPMUND
Travel through Kuiseb Canyon towards coast. Enjoy a packed lunch en route. See Welwitschia Mirabilis' plants said to grow older than a 1000 years and visit the Moon Landscape. Arrive in Swakopmund late afternoon for overnight. [BD+LP]
Day 7 FRI SWAKOPMUND (unguided)
Explore lovely Swakopmund. You may wish to book an optional day tour (for own account) in Swakopmund (guided tour through historical town or the Mondesa township, quad-biking, sand-boarding; Living Desert Tour, scenic flight over Skeleton coast or catamaran or boat cruise at Walvis Bay). Many optional activities are on offer (for own account): visit aquarium, museum or crystal gallery, and many more.
Day 8 SAT SWAKOPMUND - DESERT EXPRESS (unguided)
Transfer to the Swakopmund train station to board the luxurious Desert Express. Check in time: 14h30 (winter and summer time). Enjoy comfort and style in the superbly appointed and fully air-conditioned train. Dinner aboard the train.
Day 9 SUN DESERT EXPRESS - WINDHOEK (unguided
Arrive at Windhoek train station in the late morning hours. Tour ends with transfer to the Hotel of your choice within the city of Windhoek.
