Itinerary
DAY 1 WED WINDHOEK - NAMIB DESERT (UNGUIDED)
Depart early afternoon via scenic Spreetshoogte Pass and Solitaire to a comfortable lodge bordering the scenic Namib landscape. Overnight Namib Desert. [D]
DAY 2 THURS SOSSUSVLEI
Early morning Sossusvlei excursion. Climb the world's highest sand dunes. Visit rugged Sesriem Canyon. Return to lodge for lunch. Afternoon nature drive (drinks for own account). Overnight Namib Desert. [FB]
DAY 3 FRI NAMIB DESERT - SWAKOPMUND (UNGUIDED)
After breakfast, travel via Kuiseb Canyon to Swakopmund. Arrive at midday at central hotel. Overnight in Swakopmund. [B]
DAY 4 SAT SWAKOPMUND (UNGUIDED)
Explore Swakopmund and enjoy some of the many optional activities (for own account): Visit to the aquarium, museum or crystal gallery; join the Living Desert Tour or a guided tour to the township Mondesa. Meet fellow travellers and guide for dinner. Overnight in Swakopmund. [BD]
DAY 5 SUN SWAKOPMUND - DAMARALAND
Depart early towards Henties Bay. See the Rock Art and the Organ Pipes at Twyfelfontein. Lunch pack en route. Arrive at remote lodge in Damaraland in the late afternoon for 2 overnights. [BD+LP]
DAY 6 MON DAMARALAND
Morning nature drive in rocky Damaraland, one of the last wilderness areas in Africa. Lunch. Guided walk in the afternoon, or at leisure. [FB]
DAY 7 TUE DAMARALAND - OTJIWARONGO
Depart Damaraland. Visit a Himba village near Kamanjab and learn more about this semi-nomadic people. Arrive at small game farm in late afternoon. Overnight near Otjiwarongo. [BD]
DAY 8 WED OTJIWARONGO - ETOSHA
Join a local guide on a morning walk in the park surrounding your lodge. Further travellers coming from Windhoek might join the group in the late morning. Travel via Outjo towards Etosha National Park. First game drive in the late afternoon. Overnight near Etosha National Park. [BD]
DAY 9 THURS ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
Full day in the Park, exploring the various waterholes along this vast saltpan. Overnight near Etosha National Park. [BD]
DAY 10 FRI ETOSHA NATIONAL PARK
Full day in Etosha where some of the rare and endangered mammal species may be encountered. Overnight preferably in Etosha National Park. [BD]
DAY 11 SAT ETOSHA - WINDHOEK
Depart for Windhoek via Otjiwarongo and Okahandja to explore a local handicraft market. Tour ends in Windhoek during late afternoon. [B]
