ITINERARY

Day 1 Kenya - Nairobi Tanzania - Arusha
Four per Room BL,D
We leave Nairobi early and cross the border for Tanzania, arriving at our camp outside Arusha, we settle in to camp and get to know each other and the vehicle. Today we have the privilege of visiting one of the local Masai villages.

Day 2/3 Serengeti - Ngorongoro
Four per Room B,L,D
There are many options available, ranging from a one-day trip to the Ngorongoro crater, to a three-day trip into the Serengeti. As this is for your own expense, we give you every opportunity to match the activity to your budget. For those not going to the parks, take this opportunity to absorb some of the fascinating local culture. One of the guides will remain with those that decide to stay in Arusha. Optional Activities: Serengeti, Ngorongoro Excursion.

Day 4/5 Arusha - Dar es Salaam
Two to Four per room B,L,D (B, L Day 4 only)
Getting together again after our various game viewing activities in the game parks, we spend our night swapping 'big game' stories around the campfire. The groups normally return from the Serengeti excursion late in the afternoon. The following day we drive south towards the Indian Ocean and the historical port city of Dar es Salaam.

Day 6/7/8 Zanzibar
Flexible Arrangement B (B Only on day 6)
On this optional activity a transfer by ferry takes you to Zanzibar where you will spend the next few days exploring this fascinating island with its renowned architecture, beautiful beaches, colourful people and history. The excursion is at your own expense and costs can be adjusted depending on your preferred level of accommodation and activities. If you prefer not to go to Zanzibar, one of the guides will stay behind with you. Optional Activities: Zanzibar Excursion: Ferry, Food, Accommodation, Spice Tours, Dolphin Tours, Scuba Diving, Snorkeling.

Day 9/10 Zanzibar Dar es Salaam Iringa
Two to Three per room B,L,D (Breakfast only on day 10)
Today we leave Zanzibar and catch a late ferry (or flight) back to Dar es Salaam and return to our campsite. The evening can be spent reminiscing about our days on the island. The next day we make the border crossing into Malawi. As we descend into the Great Rift Valley through some spectacular mountain passes, we pass the vast tea plantations in the highlands, arriving at our camp outside Iringa.

Day 11/12/13/14 Malawi – Northern and Central Lake Malawi
Two to Four per room B,L,D
Today, after visiting a local village in Iringa, we head to Lake Malawi, which used to be called Lake Nyasa, and is the southernmost of the Great Rift Valley lakes. The lake is at an altitude of around 500 metres and has a tropical climate. We will spend the next couple of carefree days relaxing on the white sandy beaches. For the more adventurous there are endless leisure and water sport activities. Alternatively, soak up the atmosphere and relax in one of the most scenic and memorable holiday destinations in Africa! The evenings are spent beside (close to) the tranquil waters. Optional Activities: Scuba diving, parasailing, windsurfing, fishing, canoeing, horse riding, craft shopping, hiking and more.

Day 15 Luwawa Forest
Two to Four per room B,L,D
Today we cross the Malawi - Zambia border after leaving the lake in the early morning. Heading south we head for the Luwawa Forest, above the Great Rift Valley. You will remember this indigenous forest region for its magnificent scenery. A hike through the forest may reward you with a glimpse of some of its secretive wildlife. There are some wonderful hikes in the area, which your guides will lead, as well as other great activities. Optional Activities: Fishing, Mountain Biking, Hiking.

Day 16/17 Zambia - South Luangwa National Park
Two to Three per room B,L,D
We drive from Luwawa Forest to the South Luangwa National Park where we will spend two nights on the banks of the river. The second day is put aside for included activities such as a tribal textile project tour and village visit. Park fees are included with a guided sunset game drive. (On occasion, in the rainy season it is impossible or inadvisable to attempt to reach South Luangwa NP, if this happens then an alternative itinerary will be chosen.) Optional Activities: Guided Game Walk in South Luangwa NP

Day 18 Chipata
Two to Four per room B,L,D
We sadly leave the wonderful South Luangwa NP to spend some relaxing time in a remote part of Zambia. This is an interesting area full of friendly locals.

Day 19 Lusaka
Two to Four per room B,L,D
Our journey towards the bustling Zambian capital of Lusaka takes us along an interesting route. If we arrive early enough to explore the local markets we will certainly enjoy this opportunity. We enjoy the evening relaxing after our long drive.

Day 20/21/22 Livingstone
Two per permanent Tent B(L only on day 20)
Arriving early in Victoria Falls, we have time to plan the next few day’s adventure activities before we head off to visit the spectacular Victoria Falls and experience the thundering sound of the mighty Zambezi. The popular optional sunset cruise includes dinner and drinks. The next day most people will spend the day White Water Rafting, a not-to-be-missed experience of a lifetime! Vic Falls offers many exciting alternatives. Optional Activities: Zambezi Sunset Cruise, White Water Rafting, Bungee Jump, Elephant Excursion, Dinner out.

Day 23 Botswana - Chobe National Park
Two per room/Permanent TentB,L,D
Today we head South across the Botswana border to Kasane, on the banks of the Chobe River. Apart from being the 2nd biggest National Park in Botswana, Chobe National Park is renowned for its high population of migratory elephants. The afternoon is spent Game viewing on a boat cruise, into the renowned Chobe NP. This is an excellent opportunity to view some of Africa’s spectacular wildlife.

Day 24/25/26 Maun Okavango Delta
Two per room/Permanent TentB,L,D
An early start sees us driving through to Maun via Nata and the Makgadikgadi Pans National Park. The Pans was once a super lake almost 30 meters (100 feet) deep, over an area of 80,000 sq. km (30,888 sq. miles). When the climate changed 10,000 years ago Lake Makgadikgadi was well on the way to drying up. As the water evaporated, huge glistening salt-encrusted pans were left. We arrive in Maun in the late afternoon and prepare for our journey into the Delta.

The next morning we board our planes. And head into the Delta. After a wonderful scenic flight we arrive at our base for the next two days. During our time in the Delta we enjoy the best nature has to offer. We go on nature walks and if possible will explore the Delta by mokoro. The Delta is truly spectacular and unforgettable experience.

We depart the Delta with a scenic flight back to Maun where we overnight and spend the evening reminiscing around the campfire about our unforgettable Delta experience.

Day 27 Palapye
Two per room B,L.D
We leave Maun behind us and leave towards Palapye, previously known as Phalatswe, where we’ll spend the night. The town is located on the banks of the tranquil Lotsane River.

Day 28 Johannesburg
Tour Ends. Own arrangements B,L
Today we cross the border into South Africa and after quite a long, yet scenic, drive we will arrive in Johannesburg. South Africa’s city of gold has much to offer and should not be underestimated as a travel destination. There are many excellent restaurants here where we can enjoy a final meal together.
