S.O.S. SOMALIAMy name is Giuseppe Di Clemente, 58 years old., born and grown in Somalia, by an Italian father and a Somali mother. I am on a tour around the world by bike in solidarity for my Motherland Somalia. I left Switzerland on the 22th June 2003, crossed Italy then Spain to reach Africa by Morocco. I then crossed Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Togo, Benin and Niger. For each one of these countries the authorities gave me a free visa and hospitality for solidarity. My destination is temporarily Somalia. My objective is to support the African reconciliation, more particularly Somalia. I also hope to make the same mission in all the Est-African zone while using a bicycle for my transport. I will continue towards South Africa. In all case, beyond that, I conffirms not to stop my mission, us far the war will continue in Somalia. I will take a boat and will direct towards the Argentinian coast and the rest of the world always with my bicycle. My objective is to sensibilize the African media but also the whole world on the dramatic situation of Somalia. For 13 years my country has had neither government, no administrative center, no schools, no telecommunications etc.etc. It does not even have a dispensary to give first aid to the victims of the war. Somalia has approx. 3750 km of coasts on the Indian Ocean, but no maritime surveyance is carried out what brings the most serious danger. The sea is indeed delivered to piracy and smuggling, the trawlers of certain foreign countries sin there without the least authorization. More serious still, these same coasts are an ideal place to throw away toxic waste of the industrial world. Currently, an incredible number of dead each day are due to various causes : the diseases (lack of care, excessive pollution, etc.), plus the tribal confrontations. For this causes, many Somalis are dispersed throughout the world in search of survival. I acknowledge very sincerely that for this mission I do not have a sponsor supporting me financially. For this reason I request the solidarity of the NIGERIA autority and honorable popolation to help me in this mission. All I have on my bicycle for this mission is a laptop, a small tent and some kitchen utensils. You can consult my Internet site where when time and place permits me, I update the stories of my bike-journey, you will find there all the details in order to bring your assistance to me.<<<---- TORNA INDIETRO
