Let you charm and get carried away by the mystery and authencity of these African tribes worshipping their ancestral traditions. Fulani people and other ethnic groups are inviting you to discover their culture. This itinerary is focused on Senegal ethnic group meeting through the original natural sites that you are supposed to visit.
I T I N E R A R Y :
Day 1 : Arrival Dakar
P.M.: Arrive at Léopold Sédar Senghor international airport in Dakar, you are met, assisted and then transferred to your hotel or auberge. Have dinner according to your arrival time; overnight at your hotel.

Day 2: Dakar- Toubacouta in Saloum delta (300 km)
Basing on your opinion and arrival time in order to:
- Depart in the morning to the Saloum region
- have a rest and/ go to the beach so that to bath near the Auberge then depart in the afternoon.
Arrive Toubacouta in the evening and overnight at a campement. Visit the village and its surroundings according to the arrival time or relax near the campement swimmingpool.

Day 3: Meeting Mandingue and Sérère griots (singers)
Breakfast then visit villages to have some ideas on Mandingue and Sérère ethnic group tradition and culture. This highlight will enable to meet traditional griots who are preserving the country collective memory. They are perpetuating and recounting oral tradition basing on stories and singings, legends and Senegal history. People are being recounted poetry, musik and each ethnic group history by these griots. Dinner and overnight at the campement. |

Day 4: Cruise on board of canoe to discover Belongs and the national park island of Saloum Delta
Early breakfast and then take on board in a pirogue to visit Saloum delta national park, protected and declared world heritage site by Unesco. Here you will see the fauna richness and the reserve flora. You will enjoy bolongs quiet (river arm throwing into the sea) and its islands.
Picnic lunch on the reserve island and have a bath.
Participation to a traditional event of the area. Overnight at the Campement. |

Day 5: Bush life and traditions
Because of these good terms issued from the former visits, Saloum and its people history will you be told.
We will meet Sérère traditional healers or pay a visit to the Diolas preparing palm wine. Walking tour of a small village and experience villagers activities.
Late in the afternoon, we will be established in bivouac near the village and enjoy Senegalese night festivities. Dinner and overnight at one of the inhabitant or in the double tent. |

Day 6: Saloum – Kédougou, Eastern Senegal (550km)
Depart to the region of eastern Senegal. Stop in Kaffrine and have lunch en route.
Arrive late in the afternoon in Kédougou, dinner and overnight in a campement near the Gambia river.

Day 7: Around the hills of Fouta Djalon (20 Km)
Breakfast then visit of Kédougou colorful market a place where Senegalese, Guinean, Malian merchants are meeting.
Drive (local transportation) to the middle of Fulani country. Continue on foot to a nestled village near to the Gambia river under the hills shaping Fouta Djalon, visit the village and then meet the inhabitants.
Dinner and overnight in traditional huts. |

Day 8-9-10 and 11: Trekking in Fouta Djalon Fulani vilages
The walking tour of different villages located between the hills will enable you to grasp some main ideas on Fulani people life and custom being one of the most mysterious people of West Africa.
Every day take for a walk of about 2 or 5 hours in the rich and varied vegetation to reach a new village.
This is an opportunity for you to discover quietly the activities, history and traditional rites of this area population of Senegal (musik and tales, craft center, plantation, organisation and village way of life).
You will enjoy the area quiet, the waterfall freshness and the countryside beauty. This place is appreciated for its authencity, the meeting richness and the rythm of villagers’ night parties.
Hot picnic meals and overnight of Day 8, 9 and 10 in traditional huts. Day 11 overnight will be spent in Niokolo Koba park. Overnight in a campement. |

Day 12: Visit of Niokolo Koba animal reserve (open from october to June) (250 Km)
Early breakfast then depart for a full day Safari in Niokolo Koba park declared biosphere by Unesco. You will discover all the fauna and flora (monkey, antilop, hippopotamus and many birds). Picnic lunch. Arrive late in the afternoon in Tambacounda region. Dinner and overnight ta a campement.
Day 13: Tambacounda - Dakar (450 Km)
Drive back to Dakar, have lunch en route. Arrive in the evening, dinner and overnight at school. |

Day 14: Dakar
Breakfast, visit the Malian market then cruise to Gorée Island, important past symbolwhere the first laves were embarked to America. Have lunch on the Island and visit: the famous slave house and tour of the Island, craft or traditional market.
Free maybe in the afternoon according to the departure time and tranfer to the airport.

OVERVIEW OF THE TOUR:
- - 14 days and 13 nights
- - Authentic tour to accessible paths, but it is required to be able to trek during 2 or 5 hours per day. You need to be physically fine so that to be adpted to the heat.
- - 5 hours of walking or trekking in the foothills of Fouta Djalon (altitude around 500 km maxi)
- - Accommodation: 1 night in hotel, 2 nights in campement, 4 nights in traditional huts.
- - The selected campements can be changed into their similars
- - Your accommodations places are always equipped with mosquitoes’ nets.
- - Your contribution for bivouac establishment is necessary; So, the travellers will have to supply camping matrasses and covers.
- - Meals: traditional and modern meals (good hygiene condition).
- - Dinners and picnic lunch are prepared with local and exported products.

FURTHER INFORMATION:
- 1- The eastern region of Senegal has neither current fresh, tap water nor electricity. The lighting means are oil lamps and the dishes are traditional ( women are providing water from the well in order to have a bath. Such a fact constitutes an authencity and bring frehness after a sunny day activities.
- 2- The road are sometimes unpaved and rough.
- 3- The itinerary can be flexible because of some major natural factors (weather, season activities).-
